An update regarding the return to school in August.

Updated: Aug 31, 2020

I received the latest Government Gazette outlining the return to school for our learners. Grade 7 learners will be returning to school on Tuesday, 11 August. All other grades will be returning on Monday, 24 August. This includes all grades from Grade 0 to Grade 6.

Teachers will be sending work out to those grades not back at school yet for the weeks before the 24 August.

I want to reassure parents that the school will continue to follow all Covid-19 protocols and all pupils will be kept safe. There is adequate social distancing and screens to ensure that pupils are not exposed to any potential viral threats.

There will be NO extra-mural program and pupils are to be collected on time, please!

Drop-off and collection zones:

The Grade 0 pupils are to be dropped off and enter through “Oppies Alley” (next to the Kudu Calves school building)). They will be welcomed and screened as they enter the playground area. Children should be dropped off wearing a face mask and having been screened at home. Please do not send your child to school if he is not feeling well or if he has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive within the past two weeks.

Grade 1 and 2 boys should be dropped and collected at the tuckshop entrance. Parents are to drive in through the Dudley Schroeder gate and exit either into Kingsway (through the Lorraine Thomas gate) or into College Avenue (through the High School gates). NO parent should exit through the Dudley Schroeder gate!

Grade 3 and 5 boys are to enter at the sliding gate in Kingsway (Grade 5s may also enter through the pedestrian gate). Grade 5 to go into the hall door and Grade 3 to enter through the middle door leading to the fields.

Grade 4, 6 and 7 to enter at the bus shelter entrance. Grades 4 and 6 will enter the school building through the double doors at the bottom of the stairs leading out to the hall.

All children are to wear the winter school uniform (without the blazer). They may wear their tracksuit top.

Aftercare/Daycare:

The Aftercare/Daycare facility will also open from Monday afternoon, 24 August 2020. Boys whose fees (school fees and daycare fees) are paid up to date will be allowed to attend.

Please contact Mrs Pohlman or Mrs Smith in the bursar’s office to find out what the fees are. Please ensure that aftercare/daycare boys are collected by 5:30 pm, please.

Light, packed lunches will also be available for boys wanting a meal. These prices will also be available from the bursar’s office. Meals should be paid for per month in advance.

Should you have any queries regarding the information above, kindly contact the school from Monday, 11 August during school times. Alternatively, send an email to charwin@qcj.co.za.

Yours faithfully

Lester Pike

Headmaster
